Julia Surette is an award-winning Canadian-American soprano recognized for her notable range, captivating sound and authentic stage presence. Julia made her professional debut at the Hampstead Garden Opera (HGO), London UK in May 2022 performing the role of Belinda in Dido and Aeneas.
Serpetta in La finta Giardiniera (AEDO, Lucca Italy), the title role of Sally in Thomas and Sally (McGill, Montreal), and Atalanta in Serse (AEDO, Lucca, Italy) are among Julia's varied past performances. Scene productions have included Mlle Silberklang in Die Schauspieldirektor (Royal Academy of Music scenes, London UK), Susannah in Susannah by Carlisle Floyd (Royal Academy of Music scenes, London UK), Adina in L'elisir d'amore (Royal Academy of Music scenes, London UK), and Despina in Cosi fan tutte (University of Cincinnati), among others.
Recognized in numerous opera competitions, Julia's most recent recognition was at the International Singing Competition "Gaetano Zinetti" in Sanguinetto, Italy. Previously, Julia was the winner of the prestigious La Concours de Musique de la Capitale (Quebec, Canada), the Canadian Sinfonietta young artist competition, as well as the Mariana Paunova and Stefano Algieri Scholarship in Voice at the Schulich School of Music. Accreditations include a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at McGill University and Canada’s Royal Conservatory for both Voice Performance and Piano. She is fluent in English and Italian, and has proficiency in French and German.
Julia completed her Masters at the Royal Academy of Music, London in 2022.
